  • Usubakitombo | Wandering Glider
  • The Wandering Glider is characterized by its large compound eyes, and every spring it flies from the south to various parts of Japan to breed repeatedly. Their bodies have evolved to be extremely light and suitable for long-distance flights.
Because of their high flight ability, they can cross the ocean, and they live not only in Japan but all over the world. However, they are sensitive to cold, and they all die in winter in Japan, including the larvae, except in particularly warm regions.
Even so, the reason why they continue to come to Japan every year is perhaps due to their survival instinct, wanting to expand their habitat as much as possible. The Earth is repeatedly getting colder and hotter, but the Wandering Glider may be a species that welcomes the warming of the Earth.
