sowbug

Sow bugs are creatures that came to Japan from Europe along with garden plants. It looks like pill bugs, but it is not round. For this reason, in Japanese, pill bugs are called "Dango-mushi" that means a round rice dumpling, but sow bugs are called "Waraji-mushi" that means old footwear woven from rice straw.
From the time they are born, they have the same appearance as adults, and they grow larger by repeatedly shedding their skin.
