The Sounds of Summer in Japan

There are so many cicadas in Japan, and you can hear their loud chorus both in the city and in the countryside. Just hearing the sound of cicadas reminds Japanese people of summer, that is how many cicadas are singing in Japan.

This species of cicada, Abura-zemi, has a chirping sound similar to the sound of frying in oil.
